2016 summary

Dear Members,
Dear Colleagues,

I would like to summarize the events of 2016 and our plans for 2017.
The first event of the year was the Annual Meeting of the envoys in March, where a decision was made about the new statute, which is under registration at the Court of Law.

The most significant change in the new statutes is the new management, delegated by the affiliate societies, determining the importance of the cooperation among the affiliate societies. Another change is a General Meeting of the Association, where all our members are invited, instead of Annual Meeting of the envoys.

The secretary general dr. Zsuzsanna Tóth undertook her position until the 1st of May, and prof. dr. Pál Fejérdy followed her in this position.

I would like to say my deepest thanks for her conscientious , careful and devoted work and my greatest gratitude for her help in the period of transition.

In the first half of the year we have renewed the webpage of the Hungarian Dental Association, where news, information, and programmes are uploaded continuously.

The  „Árkövy”Congress was organised with the title of „Perspectives in Perio-Implantology and Comprehensive Dentistry between 5th and 7th May. Well-known presenters, such as Anton Sculean, Niklaus Lang, Howard Gluckman, Stefan Renvert and others gave exemptional lectures of high-standard.

During the Congress a ceremony was held to present „Körmöczi” award of Hungarian Dental Association to dr. Márk Fráter and colleagues (I.), dr. Dániel Végh and colleagues (II.), and dr. Zsolt Nagy and colleagues and Györgyi Szekeres and colleagues (III.).

I would like to express my deepest congratulations and hope that this award helps them to establish their profession based on a longlife research of science.

We signed two SEAL-contracts for future cooperations, namely with PHILIPS and with Johnson&Johnson.

We participated in a professional day of dentistry (Korean-CEE Dentistry Day), organised by KOTRA, where Korean dentistry firms introduced themselves and met the representatives of the Hungarian (Central and Easter European) professionals for establishing cooperations for research and development.

We participated in CED General Meeting in May and November, where new resolutions were introduced in the European Dentistry.

Unfortunately, the Hungarian Dental Association had big losses in this year:

Professor Emerita Dr. Jolán Bánóczy, previous Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, professor of Department of Oral Biology, member of the Association of Friend of Semmelweis University passed away in September.

Dr. Gábor Fábián, officer of the Hungarian Dental Association,  professional and director of clinics of Semmelweis University.

They are big losses in the life of the Hungarian Dental Association, but we should keep their special personality in our memories.

The Hungarian Dental Association invited applications for „Young Researchers Program” with the support of NSK Europe GmbH. The deadline was 30 October and the evaluation finished on 30 November. 4 application were submitted from which 3 applicants have been awarded with the research program.

The Hungarian Dental Association ensured a special discount on the 2nd International Symposium, held in Bern, Switzerland, on 18th and 19th November, where 15 applicants received reduction in registration fee. Amongs the exemptional lecturers , we are proud of prof. Péter Windisch from the Semmelweis University.

We would like to call your attention to the special event of the first half of the year 2017.
On 12th and 13th of May a Congress of HDA will be held, with extraordinary presenters.

We hope to welcome all the professionals and we plan to give a discount for the members of HDA.

Wishing you Merry Chistmas and a Prosperous New Year!
